CITY OF GOLD

This movie was delightfully interesting. It filled me with regret, in a way, because having lived in Southern California for many years, I always made an effort to get *through* LA as quickly as possible, to get somewhere else. So I wound up avoiding, and missing out on, all the ethnic culinary wonders that, surprise, surprise, were tucked away in strip malls all over the LA sprawl. This movie will make you want to eat food. Which is good, since the whole movie is about eating food, and learning to appreciate and enjoy the people and cultures that produced it. SCORE: 85.
