THE LOBSTER

Sure, a black comedy. Deeply dark satire. Science fiction future. There was a brutality to the satire though that kept ratcheting up during the story, right up until the end where even I, longtime moviegoer, had to close my eyes, praying the movie was over, and then it was. What a relief. Hard to believe that Colin Farrell, who was the star of the great Michael Mann film MIAMI VICE, for crying out loud, was also the star of this. I suppose that's a demonstration of acting range, or, maybe it suggests that Colin hasn't been getting very good deals from his agent lately. Not sure which.

SCORE: 50.
