WEINER

Best documentary I have seen in a long, long time. It never gets boring, not for a second. A wild political journey. Such a pathetic, narcissist is Anthony Weiner. Pure, blind, all-encompassing narcissism is the only reason I can think of for him to be willing to allow a staffer to carry an HD camera around (great cinematography throughout!) and be a fly on the wall and capture so much of his behind-the-scenes life, including at-home and behind-closed-doors personal scenes with his wife Huma Abedin. There are many unanswered questions raised by the movie, among which one of mine: was longtime colleague Hillary Clinton talking with Huma during this longstanding mess, and if so, what was said, what was the advice, stand by your man, however much of a total untrustworthy lying SOB he might be, even if it is the most dishonorable, demeaning thing possible? Because that's what it seems like. Weiner is a great character for a documentary, and Huma is even better. Her trying to save face throughout is both admirable and gut-wrenching. The scene near the end of Weiner stuffing his mouth with his food after losing the election (under 5% of the vote) needs no audio: the guy just can't stop. Psychologists will be mining this one for years. See it.

SCORE: 100.
