1971

A really interesting documentary of the Media, Pennsylvania burglars who broke into a small, unsecured FBI office and stole all the files then distributed them to the press, including the Washington Post, ultimately leading to the discovery of the decades-long unconstitutional COINTELPRO program of surveillance and sabotage that led Congress to investigate in the Church Commission. One hears so much about the Snowden and Ellsberg whistleblowing cases, but the Media event is another piece in the puzzle that rarely is mentioned anymore. The re-enactments of the burglary with voiceovers by the actual perps is well-done and adds some drama to the film. See it. Important history.
