A HOLOGRAM FOR THE KING

Puzzled as to how and why this Dave Eggers novel was turned into a film. I mean, of all novels. Maybe Tom Hanks really liked it, and drove the project, I don't know. It's an odd, slight film, one of those small, odd movies that has a huge star in it. Hanks is, well, Hanks, as you'd expect. The whole lipoma subplot is bizarre. See the movie and you'll understand. I think the movie is really about the vanishing middle class in America. SCORE: 59.
