ROOM

Having read the novel, I found the movie to be a very faithful rendering. In some ways I felt the book worked better, allowing the imagination to do the work of filling in the blanks. In the movie, nothing's left to the imagination, and there's less to engage with, but perhaps more to endure. But, since most people don't read, the movie is the first exposure to this particular story. It's a powerful, disturbing story, that's for sure. SCORE: 72.
